The University of Missouri’s President’s Distinguished Lecture Series featured a talk by William D. Magwood IV, director general of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and a former NRC commissioner, on May 13 at the Columbia campus’s Bond Life Sciences Center. Magwood speech was titled “The Next Nuclear Energy Era: Opportunities and Challenges.”

NEA conference focuses on new nuclear development

More than 300 delegates from around the world attended the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency’s recent Roadmaps to New Nuclear 2025 conference in Paris, France. In attendance were representatives from governments, industry, public and private financial sectors, academia, legal firms, think tanks, and research institutions. Cohosted by the Korean government, the event focused on practical, near-term solutions to barriers facing nuclear new builds.

NEA publishes new SMR Dashboard

The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency has published the third edition of the NEA Small Modular Reactor Dashboard, a comprehensive global review of SMR technology that defines criteria for assessing progress in the development of these advanced reactors. The assessments are based on six dimensions of readiness: licensing, siting, financing, supply chain, engagement, and fuel.
